Manuka honey (Leptospermum) is made by bees that care for the flowers of the Manuka tree (also known as the tea tree) that grows in New Zealand and parts of Australia. Compared to other types of honey, Manuka honey has been shown to be more health-promoting and effective because of its higher concentration of methylglyoxal (MG). This special compound helps contribute to the benefits of Manuka honey.
